Kaplan to open new facility in Liverpool, UK

Kaplan International Pathways is opening a new college facility in Liverpool, due to launch in September 2019 in the Knowledge Quarter in Liverpool’s Paddington Village.

The Liverpool International College currently prepares over 800 international students for degree programs at the university annually and the new college building will be able to house up to 900 students.

The new £35m facility announcement comes in the same year as the 10-year anniversary of partnerships between the company and two Russell Group universities:  the University of Liverpool and the University of Glasgow.

Linda Cowan, managing director at Kaplan International Pathways sees the project as a natural expansion of the business.

“With the Knowledge Quarter becoming established as a world-leading hub for innovation, our new college facility will offer our students exciting opportunities,” she said.

“This project is a perfect way to celebrate 10 years of successful partnership with the University of Liverpool, recently extended for another 15.”

The new three-storey facility for Liverpool International College will continue its English language training and courses in academic skills and key subject knowledge.

The building will contain a cafe and study areas, and students will continue to have access to the university facilities.

Janet Beer, vice-chancellor at the University of Liverpool says that the impact the LIC has made a huge impact on international students in Liverpool.

“LIC has helped the University, and Liverpool as a city, to become much sought-after by students from all over the world. And I have no doubt that a further 15 years of partnership and a fantastic new College building will continue this trend.

“Global outlook is a significant and distinctive part of the ethos of our University, to which our 10-year partnership with Kaplan and the establishment of Liverpool International College have made a hugely successful contribution.”

Earlier this year, Kaplan announced a partnership with the University of Essex.
